Hey Siiissss, it's Miracle, with another edition of Miracle Moments, your weekly dose of Empowerment, Transformation, and Shine.
Can you believe it's Juneteenth?
First things first, do you know what Juneteenth is all about? It's the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, found out they were free – more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Can you imagine the mix of emotions they must have felt? Relief, joy, hope, and probably a bit of confusion too.
Think about the incredible strength it took to endure those times. Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass, and so many others fought tirelessly for freedom.
Harriet Tubman once said, "Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world." Isn’t that inspiring?
Who knows what would have probably become of us by now, if these people didn't give it a shot.
Ever heard the saying, “Knowledge is power”? Well, it’s totally true! Learning about the history and significance of Juneteenth helps us understand where we’ve come from and how we can make a difference moving forward.
Juneteenth is also a time to celebrate the rich and vibrant culture of African Americans.
Why not throw a little Juneteenth party with friends, featuring soul food, music, and maybe a movie night with films by Black directors? It’s a perfect way to honor this incredible heritage! Trust me, it’s fascinating stuff!
You can also honor the Juneteenth heritage by making the community where you found yourself, a better place.
You are confused on how to go about that?
Start by getting involved! Volunteering, supporting Black-owned businesses, and participating in civic activities are great ways to start. “The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members,” said Coretta Scott King. Let’s be those compassionate members!
And don't forget about yourself , Siiisss!
Investing in your own growth is super important. You can decide to find a mentor, go back to school, or develop new skills. Every step you take helps build a better future. Remember, you’re a queen and you deserve to shine!
Take this home with you sis!
As Beyoncé said, "If everything was perfect, you would never learn and you would never grow." Take those words to heart and keep growing, and learning.
